Whether you’re looking for insights into what is driving the beauty and wellness sector for 2024, or you’re keen to dive in a little more around trends for business or ideas purposes, you’ve come to the right place.
Below is a short, simple and straightforward round up for 4 key trends associated with the beauty industry, and how they set to shape the year ahead.

Opulence
There is no doubt about it – opulence is a growing lifestyle trend stemming from beauty, celebrating everything to do with inner happiness. Physical beauty is being driven by people seeking inner beauty too, which means consumers see a luminous appearance as a result of self-indulgent practices, wellness routines, health focuses, and looking after the skin and body from within.
AI/Digital
AI is being talked about everywhere, and although it can be a little overwhelming, it’s a great idea to work on your understanding around it, and can it can benefit the beauty industry. The integration of AI means beauty brands, beauty retail and the industry as a whole will start experimenting with reshaping consumer experiences and changing how individuals interact with beauty services and treatments. Experts guess it will ehance the personalised recommendations space, leading to more focused and tailored results.
Social Commerce
We are moving into a world where social media marketplaces dominate the shopping industry, which very much can be applied to beauty retail. Your social media sites, like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube have evolved into vibrant marketplaces over the past 24 months especially, where beauty enthusiasts not only seek inspiration and advice but also make instant purchases, based on trusted recommendations.
Age-Agnostic Beauty
This trend mainly focuses on those in their 30’s + who want to age gracefully, and the early teenagers. There are a lot of women in their 30’s and 40’s who want powerful products and wellness regimes which keep them away from botox and other interventions, and allow them to authentically age. The second growing trend area is the early teens and pre-teens, who are starting to take huge interests in skincare products and routines, with thanks to social media. Parents are also seeking help from the beauty industry when it comes to guidance around hormonal skin, acne and oil control.
This will open up opportunities for teenage skincare brands, products and treatments, along with lifestyle advice. This, alongside powerful products and regimes, will go hand in hand with the growth opportunity for the aging gracefully area.

Analysing these trends, we are excited to continue 2024 with some of these growing areas, and personally we feel the pre-teen and teenage skin industry has plenty of space to boom. A brand we have always recommended for teens or those reaching teen years and experiencing oily, breakout prone skin, is Dermalogica Clear Start (it’s actually fantastic for adults too! But 100% the one we recommend for early teens). It’s been around a long time, and we haven’t found a teen focused brand to knock it off our top spot yet.
