Online searches for ‘Thin eyebrows’ explode by 92%, after Zendaya and Doja Cat sport the look on the MET Gala carpet
An analysis of Pinterest Trends data reveals that searches for ‘thin eyebrows’ have risen by 92% within the last 12 months in the UK. Beauty and wellness marketplace, Fresha have reported that online searches for ‘thin eyebrows’ are at their highest point in a year as of the week ending the 2nd of May, 2024.
According to the date, it is Gen Z who are dominating the thin brow trends, as the age bracket 18-24 represented 74% of all searches on Pinterest Trends.
A spokesperson for Fresha has commented on the findings: “Thin eyebrows are a fashion statement. Love them or hate them, wispy brows have been in the limelight since the 1920s, when silent movie stars would draw on defined, slightly downturned brows to enhance their expression. Also, thanks to models like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, thin brows were a fashion staple in the 1990s.

“In 2024, thin eyebrows are having a renaissance. Doja Cat and Zendaya, for example, both walked down the MET Gala 2024 red carpet with pencilled, dainty brows. Grammy award-winning artist, Taylor Swift has also embraced the rebirth of thin brows, sporting high, stencilled brows in her new music video, Fortnight.
“However, it is important to note that this year’s thin brows are unique. Despite their similarities, 2024 thin brows are tighter, more lifted and proportionate than those of the 1920s or 1990s. It will be interesting to see how this branch of the timeless fashion trend will continue to evolve throughout the coming years.”

What are your thoughts on the return of uber-thin brows? We’re a nation who have lived and breathed microblading and powder ombre brows in a bid for thicker face framers, for what feels like forever. Not to mention telling our brow tech’s we want brow ‘as full and fluffy’ as possible, please, since Cara Delavinge came into our lives.
Let’s watch and wait!
