When I say I have thin lips, I really mean I have thin lips. I am one of those people who would really benefit from lip filler, but here I am at 39 still avoiding it. When RoC sent me their Derm Correxion Lip Volumiser – a brand new launch which has created a lot of excitement – I felt like it had fell into the right hands. But, I am also skeptical of these products at times.
I’ve countlessly gone through lip plumpers that sting, and create a plump for a few minutes after applying. I always remember one I used religiously as a teen and in my early twenties, that actually tasted like Red Bull!
However, I actually feel positive about this one, and was so impressed from the first use that I felt it needed an honest review. You ready, my thin lipped ladies?
What the ROC Derm Correxion Lip Volumiser product claims
According to what the brand say, this lip volumizer was developed with dermatologists and plastic surgeons and promises an instant and longer-term plumping effect. It notes that in 3 minutes, 90% of users saw fuller/plumper lips, and in 1 week 87% would use it instead of lip injections. Boots It also states it works with “25% filling ingredients, hyaluronic acid filling spheres … on contact for immediate fullness and 48 hrs deep hydration”.
Below is the first time I used it – with the top photo being before, and then the below 3 minutes later. Note it’s a raw, no makeup photo. It almost creates a defined lip line somehow!
My experience and verdict
I tried it out, and here’s how it went:
- On first application, the texture felt nice and lightweight (not sticky or heavy). It didn’t have the tingle until about 1 minute after applying, but it was incredibly mild.
- After about 3 minutes, I did notice a subtle extra “bee-stung” look – lips felt slightly more full and plump compared to before. It’s not dramatic, but you can see a gentle boost in volume. I was impressed to see it develop and last a few hours after
- Over the course of a week of using it (morning and night), my lips felt more hydrated, smoother and slightly more defined at the edges. They really did ‘boost’ in volume, however I am only 8 days into using this, so I’d been to continue trying it out.
- The claim of “in one week results” rang true for me – not a ‘oh my god’ radical transformation, but enough that someone might ask “did you do something different?”. More importantly, enough to make me feel happy with the slightly more plump and volumised lips, which made me feel better in myself.
- Because it’s intended as a non-invasive topical filler alternative, it’s ideal if you want a gentle enhancement rather than a big “injectable” effect.
Pros
- Subtle but noticeable plumping: You really can see/feel a little extra boost after minutes.
- Good hydration benefit: Lips felt smoother, less dry.
- Developed with strong credentials (derms + plastic surgeons) and backed by clinical claims.
- Works quickly: The 3-minute mark is realistic (for me anyway).
- Great for natural look: If you’re after something understated rather than major volume.
Cons / Things to keep in mind
- If you’re expecting dramatic “full lip” results akin to injectables, this won’t deliver that. It’s subtle enhancement, and if you have naturally thin lips, you should definitely notice it.
- The plump effect fades – you’ll want to maintain regular use to keep the results.
- Some people might experience mild tingling or sensation when applying (common with “plumping” lip products) — check sensitivity.
- Cost versus effect: Since the effect is moderate, you’ll want to decide if it meets your expectation and value. For £29.99, I do admit I used a lot of this product in my first week, and it’s not a cheap monthly habit. That being said, I’m happier to do this than go down the route of lip fillers!
Final thoughts
If you’re looking for a non-invasive lip plumper that gives a real but gentle boost, the RoC Derm Correxion Lip Volumiser is a strong choice. After 3 minutes I felt my lips looked a touch more “lifted” and full, and after one week they felt healthier and more defined. If your aim is a naturally plump, well-hydrated pout — and you’re fine with subtle results rather than dramatic change — this delivers. For me, it’s been a brilliant beauty product to add to my morning routine. It’s almost like my lips look a little more pinky even though it’s a clear product, which tells me it’s massaging the blood flow well with it’s sleek silver applicator.
Would I buy again? Yes – especially for days when I want that little extra something. If I wanted big volume though that lasts for months, then of course I’d still go for other options. But right now, that’s not for me, and I’ll be keeping this beauty product with me instead.
