The products were gifted to me in return for an honest view on Instagram. However, I have chosen to share my thoughts in an article in a non-associated way with the brand.

If you’re someone with a huge interest in improving skin health, and you scroll social media, you’ll be no stranger to the online dermatology service skincare brands – Dermatica being one of the main ones to rule the industry. With growing popularity, as well as lots of women sat on the fence about this convenient way to get professional skincare help, I decided it was time to try out the service and debunk all the noise around it.
As someone who’s been dealing with congested skin and persistent pigmentation for years, I decided to try Dermatica’s online dermatology service. I have seen SO many people rave about it, and I always remember a friend around 4 years telling me it’s the only skincare spend she makes.
What is Dermatica?
So let’s just get right into it and to the point. I was impressed by the ease of the consultation process, which involved submitting photos of my skin and answering a detailed questionnaire online. The turn around was super quick, the dermatology team reviewed my photos and answers, before they shared the treatment plan for me.

Dermatica is all about a personalised treatment formula, which is tailored to target your own unique skin concerns and skin type. For me, I have both congested, acne-prone skin and pigmentation concerns. Therefore the ingredients and percentages used for my personalised formula are different to that of say someone else with breakouts also joining.
My personal Dermatica results
After six weeks of consistent use, using the personalised formula after cleansing (with the Glycerin Gel Cleanser), I was super happy to notice a significant reduction in my congested skin and breakouts. I had – and am prone to – hormonal congestion and breakouts around the jaw. These get worse quickly, and can improve just as quick, but since the start of 2024 I’ve been stuck in a cycle.
It was around the 6 week mark where my skin felt clearer, smoother, and the painful spots I had grown accustomed to were appearing less frequently. This was a huge relief, as the clogged pores and breakouts had been a constant frustration – foundation can’t hide texture, right?
Here’s a reel I did sharing my journey after 3 months. Further below, you’ll find the 6 week progress too.
Three month mark results
By the three-month mark, I’m actually thrilled with the results, even though the improvement is not what I would say ‘drastic’, but achievable and progressive. My skin in terms of congestion and jaw breakouts has made a huge improvement, I truly am happy with the results, however, the pigmentation issue is still a work in progress. I have very harsh pigmentation, especially on my forehead and cheeks, and it’s been great to see Dermatica’s personalised formula beginning to lighten the brown patchy areas.
But as someone with harsh pigmentation, I know it will take more time to achieve my ideal results. The good news is that I can see definite progress, and it’s headed in the right direction.
The home truths
After the first few days using the formula, I did message the brand as I experienced a little bit of sensitivity on the cheeks. When I applied the moisturiser, my skin felt more tingly and I did panic for a moment. Due to the active ingredients, the dermatology team re-assured me this can happen at the beginning, and if it continues, then to stop. It lasted around 4 days before settling, and now I don’t have any redness or experience sensitivity when using.

It’s hugely important to tell the team during the online consultation about any skin sensitivity you have, as active ingredients may react with your skin if you’ve not used them before. Remember, the team are always on hand, too.
Alongside the personalised formula, I’ve been using Dermatica’s glycerin gel cleanser and soothing moisturiser, which have been perfect for keeping my skin hydrated without causing irritation. I also use their 15% vitamin C serum as a final step, which I feel has helped to brighten my overall complexion. I talk about it quite a lot on social media, but with a Vitamin C product, you really do want to be using more than 10% of the ingredient in your skincare if you wish to see brightening results.
And here is my reel I put together after 6 weeks, so you can see the starter progress I had…
What does it cost?
In summary, Dermatica’s service has made a huge difference to my congested skin, and while pigmentation takes longer to fade, I’m confident that with continued use, I’ll see even better results. If you’re struggling with similar skin concerns, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try. It’s a popular choice for those who can’t really get to a dermatologist in person, or want to find a more affordable and accesiable approach to professional skincare – that you can’t just buy from your online store like lookfantastic or Cult Beauty.
It costs £24.99 a month but you can get 50% off with code EMMA50 – which Dermatica kindly gave me to share with you all. Any questions, my DM’s are always open either at @parlorbeauty.co.uk or my personal IG at @byemmacampbell
