Can you really tell the difference between the new Keep It Matte and the Get Your Glow setting sprays?
We all want our makeup to stay in place, which means setting sprays have become a go-to product for many of us as a last step. Did you know that you can actually mist makeup setting sprays over liquid/cream foundation before you blend it all in and set with powder? It’s like a little secret for adding that extra dewiness and glow before setting. Honestly try it, you’ll see what I mean!
When using setting sprays though, have you ever focused on the type of spray it is? Mattifying? Glow enhancing? Vitamin C boosting?
Mii Cosmetics offers two distinct choices that I’ve been lucky to get my hands on and try: Matte Setting Spray and Glow Setting Spray. But the burning question remains—can you really tell the difference between the two? Do they actually do what they say?
Matte Setting Spray: Shine Control Extraordinaire

Testing the Mii Cosmetics Keep It Matte Setting Spray
Those who have tried this have reported that it provides a long-lasting matte finish without feeling heavy or sticky on the skin. Now I don’t have oily skin, but my forehead is prone to oiliness and my makeup does fade off during the day so I’m always looking for ways to keep it in place.
When testing both of these, I misted it on cream foundation before blending it and setting with powder, and then misted on top of the setting powder.
Thoughts: Its super lightweight, left my foundation looking fresh before setting with powder, and also after powder. I did feel like my forehead didn’t come through with oil at all, and I was expecting it to have a little shine maybe an hour or two after it usually would. But I did feel completely shine-free for the 8 hours since I sprayed this.
I wouldn’t say my overall complexion had a mattified finish or anything but it’s worth noting I don’t have oily skin, so I don’t need mattifying usually, it’s just my forehead that can bother me a little.
Makeup stayed in place for the full 8 hours, I felt like nothing ‘faded’ or looked duller as the day went on, so can’t really complain about this spray although I would love to see the effects on someone who does suffer from oily skin, especially someone who feels their makeup slides off during the day.
Mii Cosmetics Get Your Glow Setting Spray Review
OK so this is the one I’ve been getting giddy about – I really do ADORE this. I have dull, dry skin and it always lacks a glow. I have to really work hard on my skincare to encourage any radiance, so I was positive to try Mii Cosmetics Get Your Glow Setting Spray hoping it would be a game-changer for those with dull, dry skin.
So this setting spray not only locks in makeup for long-lasting wear but also delivers a much-needed boost of hydration, and I really noticed it. It’s definitely got something in it that sets it apart from the matte spray, enriched with hydrating and glow boosting ingredients for those whose skin needs it.
Thoughts: Again, I tried this on top of cream foundation and then after powder and this mist really imparts a dewy, radiant finish. On top of cream foundation it instantly revitalises and brightens my make up, like when you say something adds that instant glow, this really does. On top of powder it gives like a subtle sheen and luminous glow, which stayed for a couple of hours after setting the makeup.
I misted a couple of times during the 8 hour test (I think I did 2 mists after the first one) and every time it just gave me a glowing canvas, like my make up was sooooo radiant. I’ve since misted it on top of my moisturiser when wearing no foundation and it’s a perfect skin booster – my skin looks healthier and dewy. I’d say from my experience it really is an ‘instant hit’ product.
So, the initial question was, do these really work for different skin types. It’s hard to fully review the mattifying spray with not having skin that needs mattifying, but I did notice the absence of shine on my forehead and the spray itself very beautifully set my makeup and left it looking fresh. However I hands down have to rave about the glow setting spray, which if you have dull and dry skin like me, it really is an instant radiance boosting spray!
