Shark Beauty is back with an upgrade to one of its most talked-about skincare launches. The brand has released an upgraded version of its award-winning CryoGlow LED face mask, bringing improved LED coverage around the eye area, better battery performance, and two new colour options. It’s called the CryoGlow Plus, and it’s priced at £339.99.
This brand new mask landed on my desk last month, and although I won’t be sharing my full thoughts and honest review until I’ve given it a minimum of six weeks trialing and testing (you gotta do it properly!), here are my first thoughts after the first few weeks.
What’s New?
The new CryoGlow Plus has a boosted battrey power, and why I personally feel it’s going to be brilliant is that for people like me – women in late 30’s plus – it is designed to tackle both signs of ageing and blemishes. Combining red, blue and deep infrared light with new iQLED technology, it is said to deliver 120% improved LED coverage around the crow’s feet area, targeted treatment around the lips, and Shark’s signature InstaChill under-eye cooling technology to help soothe and de-puff.
With four dermatologist-inspired treatment modes, CryoGlow Plus offers personalised LED treatments in as little as four minutes.
The mask also arrives in two new colourways, Pastel Berry and Pastel Dusk, bringing the total range up to eight different colour options – very on-brand for SharkNinja, which has built a reputation for giving its beauty tech a strong shelf-appeal alongside the science.
Price and Availability
The CryoGlow Plus is only marginally pricier than its predecessor, which launched at £299, with the new version priced at £339 in the UK. It’s a small jump for a genuine spec upgrade, and it keeps the mask competitively positioned against other big names in the LED mask space.
What to Expect, Based on the Original
Shark hasn’t reinvented the formula here, and that’s a good thing. The original CryoGlow built a loyal following for good reason. The mask combines red, blue, and infrared LED therapy with under-eye cooling technology across four preset treatment modes. The reviews online have been extremely positive for a long period of time, praising the mask for it’s significant improvement in skin tone, fine lines and breakout areas.
Again, personally for me, the signature feature I am excited about is the cooling. The under-eye cooling pads visibly reduce puffiness in a way that’s more noticeable than most eye creams or under-eye patches – and it’s easy to see why that’s become the mask’s most-loved detail. Plus, these pads kind of just ‘slip’ onto the mask, as and when you’d like to use them.
Our Initial Thoughts
On paper, this is a smart, considered update rather than a gimmick refresh. More LEDs and cooling eye pads around the eye area addresses some of what I’d imagine to be the few genuine criticisms of the original mask, and a longer-lasting battery is a welcome quality-of-life improvement for anyone using it as part of a regular routine rather than an occasional treat.
At £339.99, it’s still an investment, but it sits comfortably within the pricing of other serious at-home LED devices, and Shark’s track record here means expectations are high in a good way. We’ll be looking to get hands-on with the CryoGlow Plus soon for a full review, but based on the original’s reputation and this set of upgrades, it’s shaping up to be one of the more exciting beauty tech launches of the year.
