Our editor, Emma, reviews Tresemme’s Lameller Shine range, after her first impressions of the range was “very affordable, chunky sized products…but can they possibly bring a shine to my dull, bleached hair?”
With my bleached, fine and lacklustre hair, I love using luxury hair products, but I do believe they are not a necessity. I have this theory – after trialing and testing hundreds of hair brands over time – that a quality, deep conditioner is the key for me and my hair, and bonus points for a great leave in conditioner.
I’m not a shampoo snob – I just want it to cleanse. There I said it.
In my opinion, with hair products making a considerable difference to the texture or condition of your hair, it is not always as clear cut as those cheaper brands. I have never fekt that cheap equals poo quality when it comes to hair, and vice versa.
This is why I personally am a repeat buyer of high street brands — L’Oreal, Tresemme and Garnier are ones I have loaded up on time after time. So let’s look at Tresemme’s latest range, focusing on shine.
The Tresemme Lameller Shine Shampoo (£7, but you can shop around for offers) and Tresemme Lameller Shine Conditioner (£7, but sames…) are said to keep hair looking 100% more shiny for up to 72 hours. I’ll be honest and say I have to wash my hair just after the 48 hour mark, so it was only the odd occasion that I allowed the 72 hour mark to pass.
The Tresemme Lamellar Shine Shampoo
Lamellar means ‘thin layers’, and this technology works by creating a unique layered structure that is meant to evenly laminate each and every strand of hair.
You get a complimenting four-part collection all in tandem with the shine message, including a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in cream serum, and finishing oil. I used the full range, although my main focuses as the conditioner and leave-in serum. At the time of reviewing this, I focused on the 4 piece range, however, I have seen used their Instant Shine Mask, which deserves it’s own solo review. So come back soon for that!
What I Like About the Tresemme Lamellar Shine Range
I found the shampoo cleansed my hair without making it feel dry and super tangled. I’m not sure how much this product contributed to the shine result at the end, but I like to think it gives a thorough, lightweight cleanse. The conditioner was the one that really stood out though, I found it instantly smoothed out my hair, leaving it soft and shiny. It’s thick and gloopy – just how I like it. I have fine, thin hair which is bleached, and this didn’t feel too heavy for it all. No greasy or heavy residue.
The conditioner and the leave-in cream serum were the real winners for me, and if I am to use this range again I would absolutley without a shadow of doubt purchaser these two products first. I do think the 4 piece all contribute to a healthy and rather lovely shine at the end, but I personally feel these two are where the magic happens.
It’s like as soon as these two were used, it locked in a great amount of moisture and added a gorgeous, glossy finish that made my hair look salon-fresh.
I’ve tried to share a photo below of my hair, I decided to share two very natural photos in ‘selfie’ style, so you can see what it looks like. But with it being bleached and very dry, it’s rare it picks up that ‘shine’ you so often see on glossy dark brown and black hair. But hopefully you can see that it definitely looks healthy with a subtle shine that – for me – felt so soft, sleek and healthy.
Would I Purchase?
Yes, because I feel for the money, there is no negative element at all to this range. It does what it says (I think brunettes and dark haired ladies may even see more of a wow than I did) and is super affordable. It nourishes and adds shine, has chunky, decent sized products, a gorgeous scent, and even though I use a lot of the conditioner and cream serum, nothing feels heavy.
